A Winter Recipe

40 ft red 6×1″ wood (cut to size)

minus 10 degrees

1 hose

2 shovels

2 parents

20 gallons of water (lukewarm)

To start your recipe, you must be in Ontario.  Set the temperature below zero, preferably around minus 10.  Choose a spot in your backyard, size appropriate to the age of your skater.  In this case, we’ll use a 2 year old, so 10×10.  Cut boards to 10 foot lengths and place end to end in the shape of a square.  Take your two parental units, give them shovels, and have them remove all the snow from the inside of the square.  If they slow down, or take breaks – encourage them to continue.  Once the snow is cleared, hook up the hose to the outside water tap, and turn the water on low.  Allow area to fill with a shallow film of water.  Set.  Repeat as necessary.  Decorate with nets, sticks and pucks.  Ready to serve the next morning.
